Characteristics and natural habitat of clownfish

Best known for being featured in the movies “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory,” the clownfish has become a popular aquarium pet.
Most false clownfish are orange with three white bands on the head and body. The white bands are outlined in black. Their bodies are a bit more than 3 inches long on average, but they may grow up to 4 inches.
Habitat
The clownfish is a type of fish that lives in salt water habitats, they live in the coral reefs off the coasts of Australia and Southeast Asia as far north as southern Japan and the Indo-Malaysian region.
Clownfish live at the bottom of the sea in sheltered reefs or in shallow lagoons. Clownfish have a special relationship with the anemone and are very important to them. They are a large help to the anemone as they clean the anemone by eating the algae and other food leftovers on them. They also protect the sea anemones by chasing away polyp-eating fish, such as the butterfly fish.
Clownfish are omnivores, which means they eat meat and plants. They typically eat algae, zooplankton, worms and small crustaceans.

What is the Life Cycle of the Clownfish
The spawning season of the clownfish, a time when they breed, is year round in tropical waters. Males attract the females by courting, courting behaviors include chasing, biting and extending fins. They lay their eggs in batches on coral, rock or next to the sea anemone that they call home.
Before the lay, The male clownfish will build a nest on the rock or coral near the anemone in order to be provided with protection from predators. Breeding starts by the male chasing the female to the nest where the eggs are released. One hundred to one thousand eggs are laid. The male clownfish guards and protects the eggs until they hatch as well as regularly fan them, which increases the chances of the eggs successfully developing.
After the eggs hatch, the parent’s job is done and they have nothing to do with the baby fish, who ascend to the surface and feed on plankton until maturation.
Clownfish almost never stray very far away from their homes in sea anemones, which they form a symbiotic relationship with. Thus, if not for their ability to adapt to potentially limited mating partners in their local area, they may not get a chance to breed at all.
